The Subaru EJ20 is a 2.0-liter (1,994 cc) aluminum-block flat-four engine introduced in 1989. Featuring a bore of 92 mm and a stroke of 75 mm, the engine is equipped with either a DOHC or SOHC valve train; it was primarily fitted to Japan Domestic Market (JDM) models such as the Legacy, Impreza, and Forester. Common variants include naturally aspirated SOHC versions (producing 125–155 horsepower) as well as turbocharged EJ207 and EJ20Y derivatives; in later WRX STI Final Edition models, its maximum output even exceeded 300 horsepower.
