The Subaru EZ36D is a 3.6-liter, naturally aspirated, horizontally opposed six-cylinder (Boxer) engine produced roughly between 2008 and 2019. Renowned for its exceptional reliability, this engine delivers a maximum output of 256 horsepower and a peak torque of 247 lb-ft. Its technical features include an aluminum engine block, a Dual Overhead Camshaft (DOHC) configuration, a 24-valve design, and a Dual Active Valve Control System (Dual AVCS)—Subaru’s variable valve timing technology. Designed specifically to run on regular 87-octane gasoline, this engine was featured in the 2010–2019 Outback and Legacy models, as well as the 2008–2014 Tribeca models.
